About
Who am I?
“Stop creating with AI and use your traumas like a real human being" <3
Behind BASYLYSK, there’s one imagination, one pair of hands.
My name is Lena Poulet.
I was the child who drew endlessly at the back of the classroom, and when I wasn’t drawing, I picked up things from nature. Bones, notably. Bones, in particular.
That’s partly where BASYLYSK began to take shape, long before it had a name.
Fascinated by what is alive, and by what comes after, by everything that sets the human apart from the animal and from the machine. I wanted to blend all of it, to explore those borders. To create hybrids, between the human and something else.
After graduating from the fine arts school in Saint-Étienne, where I gradually came back to the fascinations I’d always carried, I wanted to venture into jewelry, the best medium for experimenting with bodily extensions.
I then continued my training alongside jewelers I admire, including Mia Gosset and Lila la Nuit, until no technical difficulty could stop my experiments.
One year of internships later, I opened my own workshop. The plan was to merge everything I’d learned with my work around bones.
Pretty soon, I stopped making simple bone jewelry. I wanted to turn human bodies into mechanical creatures, wandering between the sacred and the mutated, between death and immortality.
Here I am now: your new skinsmith, still experimenting, still evolving, through bone and metal.
